This Christmas Valour decided to support not one but two local worthwhile charities. Meaning we could spread even more Christmas cheer to those who need it most in our local community.
Together Trust "Equal Christmas for All" Campaign.
The Together Trust provides care, special education and vital support services for children, young people, adults and their families. They provide outstanding help and support to children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health, emotional and behavioural needs.
Christmas can be a very difficult time of year for the children, young people and disadvantaged families that the Together Trust supports. So we decided to continue our ongoing support of the Together Trust at this special time of year. The company and staff donated food both essentials and festive goodies, treats and toiletries. The result was we created large family sized Christmas hampers to be distributed to the care leavers, dis-advantaged children and their families. Helping to make their Christmas a happier one. We know the food hampers are very much appreciated and perhaps equally as important to us it helps make them aware that people do care about them and their problems.
We have done our upmost to ensure that the dis-advantaged families do not miss out on the simple little joys that make Christmas special. The latest news is that all the support that the Together Trust received from companies including Valour meant that a total of 96 food hampers were able to be distributed in time for Christmas!
The Wellspring Centre
Is a resource centre for the homeless and dis-advantaged of Stockport and relies totally on donations. People in need are able to get help 365 days of the year. As well as providing a safe haven the centre provides essential services such as Shower facilities, Food Services (Free food/drink 365 days a year), Clean clothing, blankets and sleeping bags. The charity actively engages with the homeless of Stockport helping them back into housing , however not everyone the Wellspring supports is homeless, they also help those who are at risk of becoming homeless as they believe prevention is better than cure. Additional support services are also provided in the form of 1- 1 support helping with drug, alchohol, housing , employment , benefit and mental health issues.
The centre is located just on our doorstep and here at Valour we are aware of the fantastic work that they do. Whilst Christmas may be enjoyable for most people those living on the streets or in poverty can find it a very stressful experience, the company and staff collected and donated basic food items , some luxuries ,toiletries , warm clothing such as jumpers , hats and scarfs to help those less fortunate than ourselves. The staff did literally scamper to hamper!
